SPANISH CLASSES
Why study Spanish?
Studying Spanish opens up a world of opportunities, and as a Filipino, you may already have a strong connection to Spanish due to the rich historical ties between Spain and the Philippines.
Here's why learning Spanish is a rewarding and enriching experience:
Historical Connection: Spanish played a crucial role in shaping the history and culture of the Philippines. The Spanish colonial era has left a lasting impact on the Filipino language, cuisine, traditions, and even family names. By learning Spanish, you delve deeper into your own heritage and gain a profound understanding of the historical roots that contribute to the diverse Filipino identity.
Global Communication: With over 460 million native speakers worldwide, Spanish is the second most widely spoken language globally. Acquiring Spanish language skills not only allows you to connect with Spanish speakers in various countries but also opens doors to communication with millions of Spanish-speaking communities and businesses across the globe.
Travel and Exploration: Spanish is spoken in numerous countries, making it an incredibly useful language for travel. From the vibrant streets of Madrid to the historic sites of Mexico City or the breathtaking landscapes of Argentina, knowing Spanish allows you to immerse yourself fully in the local culture, communicate with locals, and create unforgettable experiences.
Cultural Appreciation: Spanish-speaking countries have a rich and diverse cultural heritage. From the flamenco rhythms of Spain to the passionate tango of Argentina, the literature of Gabriel García Márquez to the art of Frida Kahlo, Spanish culture offers a treasure trove of artistic, literary, and musical wonders. Learning Spanish grants you direct access to these vibrant cultural expressions.
Professional Opportunities: Spanish language skills are highly sought after in today's global job market. Whether in business, tourism, international relations, or translation services, fluency in Spanish gives you a competitive advantage and opens up exciting career prospects both locally and internationally.
Have you ever wondered about the striking similarities between Spanish and the Cebuano language? Words in Cebuano such as "biyahe" (journey), "bruha" (witch), and "biyernes" (Friday) are identical to their Spanish counterparts, "viaje," "bruja," and "viernes." This is just the tip of the iceberg—there are countless words in Cebuano that bear resemblance to Spanish. If you are already a Cebuano speaker, you will quickly recognize these similarities, making pronunciation and language acquisition a breeze.
